51 Milwaukee Public Schools students are winners in the 42nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. art, speech, and writing contests. The celebration was held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Marcus Performing Arts Center downtown.

Kindergarten enrollment for Fall 2026 is Jan. 31 through March 2. Enrollment Fairs are 9 am to noon on Jan. 31 at South Division High School and February 21 at North Division High School.

MPS receives the final $8 million withheld by the state, after submitting its 2024-25 financial audit to state DPI. This milestone follows another major event in December: Completion of work to address lead paint in schools.
