Equity, Belonging, and Community

The Department of Equity, Belonging, and Community combines many important initiatives, including resources for underserved students, restorative practices, and more.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

We use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to support school culture, improve climate, and increase positive behavior for all students. Research shows that a strong PBIS system effectively reduces classroom disruptions and student suspensions.

Restorative Practices

Within MPS, restorative practices is a framework that emphasizes the value of relationships and repairing harm to build and sustain a positive learning and working space for students and adults districtwide. The restorative practices continuum honors cultures/identities, values shared agreements, builds community, engages students, uses restorative circles, and fosters responsive circles.
