Financial Services and Payroll

The Department of Financial Services and Payroll performs many tasks for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), including accounting and reporting.

The department is responsible for:

  • Performing accounting tasks
    • School accounting and bookkeeping
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Banking
    • Cash and debt management
    • Trust accounting
    • Fixed asset reporting
    • General related obligations
  • Processing grant claims
  • Reconciling the district’s accounting records
  • Analyzing and presenting district financial information for local, state, and federal reporting
  • Preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
