Facilities and Maintenance Services
The Department of Facilities and Maintenance Services is responsible for maintaining the buildings and grounds of Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe, clean and well-maintained environment that promotes learning. The department aims to maximize the use and efficiency of district facilities by providing timely and cost-effective repair and maintenance. At the same time, the department strives to ensure that school buildings and grounds are clean, safe, sanitary and comfortable. The department also is charged with managing contracts and regulatory-compliance requirements, based on district standards.
Contractors
The Department of Facilities and Maintenance Services uses contractors to help maintain MPS buildings and grounds. This allows us to provide well-maintained environments that are conducive to learning.
E-Notify
MPS uses the City of Milwaukee's "E-Notify" site to register vendors wishing to receive email notifications of Bids and RFPs issued by Milwaukee Public Schools, City of Milwaukee, or Milwaukee County. The link below takes you to the "E-Notify" site where you will be asked to provide contact information and will be assigned a password. The password allows you to enter the E-Notify site where you can select specific products and services for which you will receive notification of pending Bids and RFPs. It is recommended that you select the categories of "Other Commodities" and/or "Other Services" to receive notifications of all possible solicitations. You can enter this site as often as you wish to change your selections if necessary.
We may occasionally add new categories if the need arises. Therefore, please be sure to keep your registration information current by checking back often to update your selected categories. Your email address, mailing address and other contact information should also be modified by you, if necessary, to ensure you are able to maximize the benefits of E-Notify.
Note: In accordance with Milwaukee Board of School Directors (MBSD) Policy 3.09, all proposed maintenance, new construction, and remodeling projects must be submitted to the Department of Facilities and Maintenance. Furthermore, the department also issues all service orders and contracts for such projects.
Processing the projects and issuing the service orders/contracts in this manner guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with school board policies for items such as insurance, bonding, wage rates, etc. It also provides for inspections to determine that all work performed complies with requirements, and that products or equipment used meet district-standardization requirements.
Long-Range Facilities Master Plan
This is a cost effective, actionable plan to address the short- and long-term facility needs of the district. Drafting the plan involved a comprehensive analysis of education trends, school programming, capacity, building standards, operating costs and other factors. This information will be used to allocate resources and make decisions for the long-term, best interests of our students and community.
Vendors
The mission of the Department of Procurement and Risk Management is to leverage information, technology, and strategic sourcing principles to acquire the goods and services needed to provide the highest quality education possible to the children of the City of Milwaukee.
