Office of Schools
At Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), the Office of Schools helps to identify, develop, engage, and integrate external resources to support schools, students, and their families.
This office collaborates with all chief offices to ensure the success of these supports. A strong emphasis is placed on efforts of student recruitment and retention geared toward stabilizing and growing MPS enrollment.
Black and Latino Male Achievement
The Department of Black and Latino Male Achievement creates systems, structures and spaces that guarantee success for all Black and Latino boys and young men through support for schools and students. It creates a vision that sees all boys with an affirmed sense of identity, dignity, and self-confidence with tools to navigate college, career, and life.
Contracted School Services
MPS provides a variety of educational and programming opportunities for its students, including charter schools, partnership schools, and other contracted educational programs.
Gender and Identity Inclusion
The Department of Gender and Identity Inclusion develops and implements programs and initiatives to support students, guide staff, and inform district planning and decision making.
Restorative Practices
Within MPS, restorative practices is a framework that emphasizes the value of relationships and repairing harm to build and sustain a positive learning and working space for students and adults districtwide. The restorative practices continuum honors cultures/identities, values shared agreements, builds community, engages students, uses restorative circles, and fosters responsive circles.
School Performance and Improvement
The Department of School Performance and Improvement provides service to schools to ensure that the district effectively and efficiently implements continuous improvement systems that support, measure, and inform the district's work in the areas of effective teacher practice and student social, emotional and academic development.
Student Discipline
At MPS, we use uses Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to support school culture, improve climate, and increase positive behavior for all students.
