Register by June 1 for Summer Academy classes

Make your summer school plans now, before it’s too late! Register by June 1 for MPS’s Summer Academy classes. Everyone from current kindergartners to middle schoolers and high school seniors will find classes that offer fun and enrichment.

Summer Academy is free for city of Milwaukee residents. Non-residents may enroll for a fee.

Summer Academy takes place on weekdays from July 6 through July 30 at various schools around the city. Breakfast and lunch are provided for Summer Academy students.

Classes are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Milwaukee Recreation is offering afternoon childcare and recreation programs; contact Rec for more information at (414) 475-8180.

Summer Academy helps students retain the skills they developed this year so they can start strong in the fall. Classes in literacy, music, art, STEM, and more are available.

Some sites offer extended school year (ESY) for children with special education needs. Some also offer Montessori, bilingual, and English as a second language (ESL).

Students in K5 to grade 5 who have a personal reading plan (PRP) are strongly encouraged to attend Summer Academy to build their reading skills.

Summer Academy helps students in grades 6 to 12 to catch up or get ahead with credit-earning classes and accelerated learning. Offerings vary by site.

Students also can tap into their creativity or develop new skills in Summer Academy’s specialty courses.

Details, an enrollment guide, and online registration are at mpsmke.com/summer.
