MATC Emerging Scholars Program
The MATC Emerging Scholars Program is an alternative education option that allows students to accelerate on credits, graduate from high school, and take coursework as preparation for certain technical careers.
This program has been a partnership with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) since 2000.
Eligibility Criteria
Students in grades 9–12 who are age 16 or older must meet at least two of the following program criteria:

Are one or more years behind in number of high school credits attained
- Are two or more years behind in basic skills
- Are habitually truant
- Are teen parents
- Are adjudicated youth
Program Specifics
Through Emerging Scholars, students can earn a minimum of 1.5 high school credits each quarter. Alongside core academics, students can also receive job training by taking part in hands-on career and technical education courses taught at the college level.

Emerging Scholars attend the MATC Downtown campus, and transportation is provided. Students in the program are also eligible to attend MATC Open House events, job and community service fairs, and workshops.
