Services Plans for Non-MPS Students
Students who attend non-public schools in Milwaukee are eligible to receive special education services from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
A services plan describes the specific special education and/or related services that a student will receive from MPS. The services plan includes IEP elements that vary depending on the services that will be provided. Many services plans include:
- The present level of academic achievement and functional performance
- Measurable annual goals
- A statement of the special education, related services, or supplementary aids and services
- A statement of the program modifications or supports
- An explanation of the extent, if any, to which the student will not participate with nondisabled children in the regular education environment
- A statement of how the student's progress toward the annual goals will be measured and when periodic progress reports will be provided
- The projected date for starting services and modifications, as well as the amount, anticipated frequency, location, and duration
Note: Students may be eligible to receive some services within their school.
MPS is responsible for providing special education evaluations if a parent/guardian or teacher makes a referral. MPS has an obligation to meet certain requirements for providing services. Once capacity is reached, students will be placed on a waitlist. To learn about who is eligible to receive services for the current school year, reach out to the program supervisor.
