Kindergarten Enrollment
Families can enroll their three-, four-, and five-year-old children in kindergarten with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).

Enrollment for the 2026–27 School Year
Enrollment Window: January 31–March 2, 2026
Do you have a child turning three, four, or five by September 1?
It's easy to enroll them in kindergarten!
- Visit our online registration portal.
- Choose a language (English or Spanish).
- Select "Start New Application."
- Complete the initial registration form. For "Registration Type," select "Kindergarten."
The application involves selecting school preferences and entering basic student and family information. It typically takes 15 to 25 minutes to complete.
Applying during the Kindergarten Enrollment window gives you the best chance of being enrolled in your first-choice school. If you miss the window, you will still be able to enroll your child, but school options will be limited. Those who apply after March 2, 2026, will be assigned to schools with available space.

Enrollment Assistance
While the enrollment application is available online, you can also complete it in person if you need assistance or access to technology. In-person applications can be done during the Kindergarten Enrollment Fair or any time at MPS Central Services. Please note that enrolling in person does not improve your chances of getting into your first-choice school.
Please contact the Department of Student Services at (414) 475-8159 or enrollmentsupport@milwaukee.k12.wi.us if you have any questions or need assistance. Families are encouraged to ask for help—support is available in multiple languages if requested, and enrollment canvassers can assist home-bound parents.
