Parent/Student Handbook
Milwaukee Public Schools' Parent/Student Handbook on Rights, Responsibilities, and Discipline gives you a detailed explanation of the rules that are in place to help all students learn.
It also covers the rights of students and families and contains information about health, safety, transportation, special needs, athletics, and other important topics.
The handbook is published annually in August, and all MPS households receive a notification via mail when the new edition is available. Parents/guardians who move during the school year are urged to report their change of address to the Department of Student Services to ensure continued receipt.

Message from the Superintendent
Dear MPS Students and Families,

You are the reason we are here—and we want to help you achieve your dreams. The best results come when we work together as partners in learning.
For students, this means being in school every day, completing your work, and asking for help when you need it. For families, it means talking with your child about school and what they are learning, helping your child be in school and on time every day, and getting to know teachers and staff.
Whenever you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher or principal for guidance. Together, we will create schools where we can expect great things.
Best wishes for a successful school year!
Sincerely,
Brenda Cassellius, EdD
Superintendent
