Freshman Bridge

The two-day Freshman Bridge program is designed to help incoming ninth graders in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) prepare for a great first year of high school.

Freshman Bridge takes place annually in August before the start of the school year. Each school posts dates and times in advance so you can plan ahead.

By attending Freshman Bridge, you’ll learn how to get ready for the first day of class, settle in quickly, and find any support you need. Being there for both days is highly recommended. You'll enjoy free breakfast and lunch, and you'll get a chance to:

  • Find your locker and your classrooms
  • Get your student ID and tour the school
  • Meet your teachers
  • Learn how high school works, including credits and the importance of your GPA
  • Check out after-school programs, clubs, and sports
  • Visit your school's College and Career Center
  • Make sure you're on track for graduation
  • Get tips from older students
  • Get your class T-shirt

If you are interested in attending, your family will need to provide transportation the first morning of the program. Milwaukee County Transit System WisGo cards will be distributed at the end of the first day.
